Introducing AirMail, Next-Generation Push for Mobile Apps

We are excited to be releasing AirMail as a developer preview today. You may have seen this link on TUAW, The Unofficial Apple Weblog, which went up today. This is something we’ve been working on for a while, so it’s great to finally be able to show it to our developers. In the next few weeks, we’ll be updating the UI, but for now, the back end is solid. Try it out; we’d love your feedback.

AirMail is the next generation of push notification for mobile apps. It’s media-rich (think video and HTML), has the ability to do return-receipt, an in-app inbox and all sorts of cool features. It’s a much more robust service for mobile messaging than you’re used to. You can read all about its features here. Mobile publishers can now maintain the same look and feel of their website, email, and other branding with their mobile outreach. Users will love it too.

We will be demo-ing it at the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas this week (we’ll be in booth 7048 in the Mobile Apps pavilion) so you can stop by and see it. Scott Kveton, our CEO, will be on stage Tuesday afternoon for a live demo as well.  Of course, if you’re not at the show, we don’t want you to miss out on the fun, so we threw together a little video:
